Typically, wood flooring wasn&#8217;t recommended for kitchens to prevent water and moisture damage.<\/p>\n<p>With laminate, this problem isn&#8217;t much of a concern. When laminate is installed properly, seams are tight and almost non-existent. This means that water will have a difficult time seeping into the floor below.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lee Wallender, a home renovations expert,\u00a0says<\/em>, &#8220;One frequent knock against laminate is that it&#8217;s a kind of pressed board, not &#8220;real wood.&#8221; Yet the fact that it&#8217;s &#8220;fake wood&#8221; acts as a strength.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since laminate is considered a &#8220;fake wood&#8221;, the laminate core is able to maintain it&#8217;s shape when water spills on it. Hardwood tends to warp and swell when water gets to it for too long of a time.<\/p>\n<p>Your kitchen furniture won&#8217;t scratch up the laminate either. Most hardwoods will scratch when kitchenware is pulled along the floor. Since laminate is resistant to scratching, it will stay looking fresh for a long while.
