Stay away from using pine, oak, or birch woods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Include various types of flora and foliage throughout your home. Potted palms, ferns, and ficus trees are great island plants that bring the sense of the outdoor tropics indoors.<\/p>\n<p>Use various sizes around the home as well. Using lively, bold colored flowers and large leafy potted plants can drastically change the style and feel of a room.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You want your room to resemble real tropical colors. Choose strong shades of blue, terracotta, yellow, green or brown.
